Traditional Recipe for Homemade Bread

Ingredients :

  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons yeast
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions :

  1. Combine warm water and yeast in a bowl. Let stand until foamy.
  2. Add flour and salt to yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled.
  5. Shape dough and place on a baking sheet. Let rise again.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  7. Let cool before slicing.

Optional :

  • Add seeds or herbs to dough for flavor.
  • Brush baked bread with melted butter for a softer crust.
