Ingredients

  • 5 cups water, divided
  • 1 family-size black tea bag
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup honey
  • 2 cups frozen peaches, thawed and pureed
  • 2 cups frozen peach slices
  • Ice cubes, as needed

Instructions

  • Brew the tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a kettle or saucepan. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the family-size black tea bag. Allow the tea to steep for 5 minutes to develop a strong, robust flavor.
  • Prepare the peach syrup: While the tea is steeping, combine ¾ cup sugar, ¾ cup honey, and the remaining 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves.
  • Add the peach puree: Stir in the 2 cups of thawed and pureed peaches into the saucepan with the sugar and honey syrup. Return the mixture to a gentle boil, then remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • Strain the syrup: Pour the peach syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or pitcher. Use the back of a spoon to press down on the peach pulp to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the pulp afterward.
  • Combine tea and syrup: Remove the tea bag from the brewed tea and pour the tea into a large pitcher. Stir the peach syrup into the tea thoroughly. Taste your peach iced tea and adjust the sweetness if needed by adding a little more honey or sugar.
  • Serve: To serve, fill glasses with the 2 cups of frozen peach slices and plenty of ice cubes. Pour the peach tea over the ice and peaches for an extra chill and fruity burst.

Notes

Use quality black tea for a bold flavor; steeping longer can lead to bitterness.
Double the recipe for large gatherings.
Chill the pitcher in the fridge for an extra cold batch.
Substitute maple syrup for honey if desired.
