Ingredients

  • 6 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos
  • Oil spray or 2 tablespoons oil
  • Marinara sauce or nacho cheese sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  • Freeze mozzarella sticks for 30–60 minutes to firm them.
  • Crush Doritos into fine crumbs using a rolling pin or food processor.
  • Set up three bowls for flour, beaten egg, and crushed Doritos.
  • Coat each cheese stick in flour, dip in egg, then roll in Doritos crumbs.
  • Double coat for extra crunch (egg, then Doritos again).
  • Freeze coated sticks for 20–30 minutes to set the crust.
  • Air fry at 390°F (200°C) for 5–7 minutes, or until golden and melty. Flip halfway through.

Notes

Freezing prevents the cheese from melting during cooking.
Double coating ensures a thicker, crunchier exterior.
Serve with marinara, nacho cheese, or your favorite dip.
For oven-baked version: Preheat to 400°F (200°C), arrange on a parchment-lined tray, and bake for 10–12 minutes.
