Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1.5 cups finely chopped mushrooms
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C)
  • Sauté the finely chopped onions and mushrooms in a skillet until tender. Let cool slightly
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, Parmesan, sautéed vegetables, Swiss cheese, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix gently without overmixing
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in a baking dish
  • Spread ketchup over the meatloaf for a glaze
  • Bake for 60-70 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F

Notes

Use halal-certified ground beef for strict dietary adherence
Vegetarian Worcestershire sauce prevents anchovy contamination
For extra moisture, add 1/4 cup vegetable broth to the mixture
Cool completely before slicing to preserve shape
