Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup butter, melted (for frosting)
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for frosting)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper
  • Whisk together 1 cup melted butter and ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder until smooth
  • Stir in 2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, and ½ tsp salt to create a crumbly mixture
  • Add 4 eggs and 3 tbsp vanilla extract, mixing until the batter is smooth and glossy
  • Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 20–25 minutes. A toothpick should come out with crumbs
  • While baking, mix ¼ cup melted butter, ¼ cup milk, 3 cups powdered sugar, ¼ cup cocoa powder, and 1 tbsp vanilla in a bowl until smooth
  • Once baked, let brownies rest 15–20 minutes. Spread frosting evenly over warm brownies
