Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Cook chopped onion in olive oil until softened.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned (6-8 minutes). Drain excess grease.
  • Season beef with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  • Whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk in a bowl.
  • Arrange half the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
  • Top with half the cooked beef mixture.
  • Pour half the soup-milk sauce over the beef.
  • Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, beef, and sauce.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  • Bake for 1 hour 15 to 20 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Substitute cheddar with a halal-compatible cheese if needed.
For extra flavor, add frozen peas or carrots between layers.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
