Ingredients

  • 2 cups hashbrowns (fresh or thawed frozen)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a small baking dish to prevent sticking.
  • Cook the turkey bacon: Place the turkey bacon slices in a skillet over medium heat. Cook until crisp, turning occasionally to ensure even doneness. Once cooked, transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess fat and cool.
  • Prepare the turkey bacon crumbles: When the turkey bacon has cooled, crumble it into small bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  • Combine ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the hashbrowns, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled turkey bacon, minced garlic, and sour cream. Mix everything well until the hashbrowns are evenly coated and the ingredients are well distributed.
  • Assemble the dish: Spread the mixture evenly into the pre-greased baking dish, smoothing the surface with a spatula.
  • Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The hashbrowns should be golden brown with bubbly cheese on top.
  • Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven and sprinkle chopped green onions over the top for a fresh, vibrant finish. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a spicier twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or finely chopped jalapeño.
