Ingredients

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix, dry
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 jar (12 oz) caramel sauce
  • 1 cup crushed toffee bits
  • 1 1/2 cups whipped topping (thawed if frozen)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan thoroughly
  • In a large bowl, combine the dry chocolate cake mix with melted unsalted butter until it forms coarse crumbs
  • Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the pan as a crust
  • Pour the entire can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust
  • Drizzle the entire jar of caramel sauce over the condensed milk
  • Sprinkle crushed toffee bits evenly across the caramel layer
  • Crumble the remaining cake mix mixture over the toffee bits, covering the bars
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until edges turn golden and filling bubbles
  • Cool completely on a wire rack for 1 hour or more before slicing into 12 servings

Notes

Ensure cake mix contains no alcohol or animal fat. For best texture, chill cooled bars in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours before serving. Optional mini chocolate chips add a delightful contrast at the end.
