Ingredients

  • 2 packages (14 oz each) halal or chicken-based smoked sausage
  • 1 cup non-alcoholic barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Nonstick cooking spray (for greasing the baking dish)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
  • Generously spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray
  • Slice smoked sausage into 1-inch thick coin-shaped pieces
  • In the prepared baking dish, add sliced sausage, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard
  • Stir thoroughly to coat all pieces evenly
  • Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes until sauce thickens and sausage is caramelized
  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving warm with toothpicks

Notes

Choose a tangy, non-alcoholic barbecue sauce for best flavor
For extra glaze, add a drizzle after baking if the sauce becomes too thick
Taste sauce before baking to adjust tanginess with vinegar or sweetness with a bit of honey
