Warm Baked Apple Fritters

Ingredients:

For the Fritters:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups diced apples (about 2 medium apples)

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Fold in the diced apples.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, forming small rounds.
  6. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Allow fritters to cool slightly, then drizzle with glaze or dip each fritter to coat. Let glaze set before serving.
