Ingredients:
- 4 eggs, separated (room temperature)
- ¾ cup caster sugar
- 125 g butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ cup plain flour, sifted
- 2 cups lukewarm milk
- ¼ cup icing sugar, for dusting
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 340°F (170°C). Line an 8-inch square pan.
- Whip egg whites to stiff peaks; set aside.
- Beat egg yolks with sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Mix in melted butter and vanilla, then add flour.
- Slowly pour in milk and mix until smooth.
- Gently fold in egg whites; batter will be thin and slightly lumpy.
- Bake 35–60 minutes until the top is lightly golden and set.
- Cool completely, dust with icing sugar, slice, and serve.
