  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Preparation:

1. Mix the Dough

In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
Slowly add the hot water and olive oil, mixing until the dough comes together.

2. Knead

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

3. First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place it on a greased baking sheet.

5. Score and Top

Make a few shallow cuts on top using a sharp knife. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool before slicing.
