Ingredients:
For the Burger Tacos
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20 for best juiciness)
- 6 small flour tortillas (soft taco size)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
For the Toppings
- 6 slices American or cheddar cheese
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Sliced pickles
- Thinly sliced onion
Optional Burger Sauce
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped pickles or relish
Instructions:
- Divide the ground beef into 6 equal portions and roll lightly into balls.
- Place one beef ball in the center of each tortilla. Sprinkle evenly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder if using.
- Using your hand or a spatula, press the beef firmly into a thin, even layer that reaches close to the tortilla edges.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place tortillas beef-side down into the hot pan.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes until the beef is deeply browned and crispy.
- Flip the tortillas, top each with a slice of cheese, and cook for 1–2 minutes more until the tortilla is lightly toasted and the cheese melts.
- Remove from heat and add desired toppings. Fold like a taco or serve flat.
Serving Tips
- Serve immediately while the beef is crispy and the tortilla is warm.
- Pair with fries, potato wedges, or a simple slaw.
- These are best eaten fresh and hot straight from the pan.
Variations
- Add sautéed onions or mushrooms directly onto the beef while cooking.
- Use spicy mayo or chipotle sauce for extra kick.
- Swap flour tortillas for low-carb or whole wheat tortillas if desired.
