The Most Delicious Dinner in 10 Minutes

Ingredients:

For the Mashed Potato Layer:

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed

  • ¼ cup (½ stick) butter

  • ½ cup milk or cream, warmed

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Savory Beef Layer:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  • 1 cup marinara or tomato sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Cheese Topping:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Potatoes:
    Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15–20 minutes, or until fork-tender. Drain well.

  2. Make the Mashed Potatoes:
    Return the drained potatoes to the pot. Add butter, warm milk, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

  3. Cook the Beef Filling:
    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 5 minutes until softened.
    Add garlic and cook for another minute.
    Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
    Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute. Add marinara sauce, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

  4. Assemble the Casserole:
    Spread the beef mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×9-inch (or similar) baking dish.
    Spoon the mashed potatoes on top, spreading evenly with a fork to create small peaks.
    Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

  5. Bake and Serve:
    Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned.
    For a golden top, broil for 1–2 minutes (watch closely).
    Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
