State Fair Lemonade

Ingredients :

  • 2 large lemons
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup hot water (tap is fine)
  • 1 cup cold water
    Plenty of ice

Instructions:

1. Rinse the lemons well. Slice each lemon in half, then cut those halves into quarters—giving you 8 small wedges per lemon.
2. Place all the lemon pieces into a sturdy plastic cup or shaker. Add 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar.
3. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, press down firmly to crush the lemons and extract the juice, mixing it with the sugar.
4. Pour in ¼ cup of hot water and stir thoroughly until the sugar is fully dissolved.
5. Add 1 cup of cold water and a generous amount of ice. Secure the lid (if using a shaker or container with a lid) and shake until everything is well mixed and icy cold.
6. Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed—add more sugar if the lemons are too sour.
