Ingredients:
- 2 sweet onions, finely diced
 - 2 smoked ham hocks
 - 4 garlic cloves, minced
 - 6 cups chicken broth (enough to cover)
 - 2 lbs collard greens (packaged or fresh, cleaned and trimmed)
 - 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
 - 2 tbsp sugar
 - Salt and black pepper to taste
(Optional: a pinch of cayenne for a spicy kick) 
Instructions:
- In a large stockpot, combine onions, ham hocks, and garlic. Pour in enough chicken broth to cover.
 - Simmer over medium heat until the ham meat is tender and nearly falling off the bone (about 1–1½ hours).
 - Add collard greens, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
 - Continue cooking for another 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the greens are soft and flavorful.
 - Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
 
Serve hot with cornbread for a true Southern meal!
