Soft Christmas Peppermints

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ tsp peppermint extract (adjust to taste)
  • Red gel food coloring

Instructions:

  1. Whip the Butter:
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until light and creamy.
  2. Mix Ingredients:
Gradually add the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and peppermint extract. Continue mixing until a firm, smooth dough forms.
  3. Color and Shape:
Divide the dough into two portions — keep ¾ white and tint ¼ red with gel food coloring.
Roll both into long, thin ropes, then twist them together to create a candy cane effect.
    Cut into small bite-sized pieces.
  4. Dry and Set:
Lay the mints on a parchment-lined tray and let them air-dry for 1–2 hours.
Once slightly firm, let them dry for another 24 hours to fully set.
