Soft and Fluffy Cinnamon-Walnut Rolls with Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients :

For the Dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup water (if needed for kneading)

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp milk (optional for consistency)

Instructions :

1. Prepare Dough

Warm ½ cup milk to 105°F. Whisk with ¼ cup sugar and 1 packet yeast. Let foam 5 mins. Add 1 egg¼ cup melted butter, and 1 tsp vanilla. Mix in 3 cups flour and ¼ tsp salt. Knead 8 mins until elastic.

2. First Rise

Place dough in greased bowl, cover with damp towel. Rise 1-1.5 hours until doubled.

3. Roll & Fill

Roll dough to 12×16″ rectangle. Spread ¼ cup softened butter. Mix ½ cup brown sugar + 2 tbsp cinnamon; sprinkle over butter. Top with ¾ cup walnuts. Roll tightly from long edge.

4. Cut & Proof

Slice into 12 rolls with dental floss or serrated knife. Place in greased baking dish. Cover, rise 30 mins until puffy.

5. Bake

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 22-25 mins until golden. Cool 5 mins.

6. Make Frosting

Beat 4oz cream cheese + 2 tbsp butter until smooth. Add 1 cup powdered sugar + 1 tsp vanilla. Thin with 1-2 tbsp milk if needed.
