Ingredients:
- For the Pork:
- 3–4 lbs pork shoulder or pork butt
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)
- Apple Cider Sauce:
- 1½ cups apple cider
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
- Optional Sides:
- Buns, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, pickles, BBQ sauce
Instructions:
- Pat pork dry and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
- (Optional) Sear pork in olive oil 2–3 minutes per side until browned.
- Add sliced onion and garlic to slow cooker. Pour in apple cider, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire, thyme, rosemary, and cinnamon stick.
- Place pork on top and spoon some sauce over it.
- Cook on LOW 8–10 hours or HIGH 4–5 hours, until tender and falling apart.
- Remove pork and shred with two forks; discard excess fat.
- (Optional) Simmer cooking liquid 5–10 minutes to thicken. Add back to shredded pork.
- Serve on buns, over potatoes, or with your favorite sides.
