Ingredients :
Potato Base:
- 4 cups Yukon Gold potatoes (thinly sliced)
Cheese Sauce:
- 3 tbsp European butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups whole milk
- 1 tsp Himalayan salt
- 1 dash cayenne pepper
- 1 cup aged sharp cheddar
- ½ cup Gruyère cheese (for topping)
- Smoked paprika (garnish)
How To Make Scalloped Potatoes

Prep Potatoes:
Thinly slice potatoes with mandoline slicer for uniform thickness. -
Make Cheese Sauce:
Melt butter in saucepan. Whisk in flour → cook 1 min.
Gradually whisk in cold milk using sauce whisk.
Add salt + cayenne. Simmer until thickened.
Stir in cheddar until melted. -
Layer in Dish:
Grease 1-quart casserole.
Layer ½ potatoes → ½ sauce → repeat.
Top with Gruyère + paprika. -
Bake:
Uncovered at 350°F for 60 mins until golden.
