Scalloped Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients :

Potato Base:

  • 4 cups Yukon Gold potatoes (thinly sliced)

Cheese Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp European butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp Himalayan salt
  • 1 dash cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup aged sharp cheddar
  • ½ cup Gruyère cheese (for topping)
  • Smoked paprika (garnish)

How To Make Scalloped Potatoes

  1. Prep Potatoes:
    Thinly slice potatoes with mandoline slicer for uniform thickness.

  2. Make Cheese Sauce:
    Melt butter in saucepan. Whisk in flour → cook 1 min.
    Gradually whisk in cold milk using sauce whisk.
    Add salt + cayenne. Simmer until thickened.
    Stir in cheddar until melted.

  3. Layer in Dish:
    Grease 1-quart casserole.
    Layer ½ potatoes → ½ sauce → repeat.
    Top with Gruyère + paprika.

  4. Bake:
    Uncovered at 350°F for 60 mins until golden.
