Orange Soda Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) vanilla cake mix
  • 12 ounces orange soda
  • 1 teaspoon pure orange extract
  • 24 ounces whipped white frosting (two 12-ounce containers)
  • 2 to 3 drops orange gel food coloring

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or two 8-inch round pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, orange soda, and orange extract. Mix until smooth and well blended.
  3. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake according to cake mix package directions, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Remove from oven and allow the cake to cool completely.
  6. Tint the whipped frosting with orange gel food coloring, if desired.
  7. Frost the cooled cake evenly. Slice and serve.

Serving Tips

  • Chill the cake for 30 minutes before serving for extra freshness
  • Garnish with orange zest or orange slices if desired
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream for a classic combination
