Neighbor Judy’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 stick (½ cup) salted butter, softened
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugar:
    In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and light brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients:
    Mix in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and blend well.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
    Gradually add to the wet mixture, stirring until fully combined.
  5. Add Chocolate Chips:
    Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
  6. Scoop and Bake:
    Drop tablespoon-sized scoops of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
    Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
  7. Cool and Enjoy:
    Let cookies cool on the pan for 2–3 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
    Enjoy warm or store in an airtight container.

Tips:

  • For extra chewiness, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
  • Don’t overbake  they’ll firm up as they cool.
  • Sprinkle a little sea salt on top before baking for a bakery-style finish.
