Mozzarella and Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients :

  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh French green beans, halved (or 2 cans green beans, rinsed and drained)
  • 10 oz mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 white onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    Salt and pepper to taste

Directions :

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
    Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add the green beans, and cook for 4–6 minutes until tender-crisp.
  2. Transfer beans to an ice bath to stop cooking, then drain and place in a baking dish.
  3. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for about 4 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in flour and garlic powder; cook for 1 minute while stirring. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add sour cream and cook until the mixture begins to boil.
    Pour the mixture over the green beans and stir to coat evenly.
    Top with grated mozzarella.
  6. Bake for 20–22 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
    Let cool 5 minutes before serving.
