Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings

Ingredients:

  • 2 large apples, peeled and cut into 8 wedges each
  • 1 can crescent roll dough (8 rolls)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup Mountain Dew
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease an 8×8 or 9×13 baking dish.
  2. Wrap each apple wedge inside a crescent roll and place them in the baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Pour the melted butter over the dumplings, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly on top.
  5. Slowly pour the Mountain Dew around the edges and over the dumplings, avoiding washing off the sugar directly.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes:

  • Any citrus soda can be used, but Mountain Dew gives the best flavor.
  • For softer apples, slice them thinner.
  • Best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven.
