Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt (plus extra for sprinkling)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (cold, cut into cubes)
- ⅔ cup warm water (adjust as needed)
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil or olive oil
- Clarified butter, for brushing
Optional toppings:
- Flaky sea salt
- Sesame seeds
- Poppy seeds
- Cracked black pepper
Method :
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add Butter: Rub the cold butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add Water: Gradually add warm water, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead gently for 3–5 minutes until smooth.
- Rest Dough: Cover with a damp towel and rest for 20–30 minutes.
- Roll and Cut: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll the dough very thin (about ⅛ inch). Cut into squares or rectangles and prick each piece with a fork.
- Season and Bake: Place crackers on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with clarified butter or oil and sprinkle with salt or toppings.
- Bake: Bake 10–12 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
- Cool: Let cool completely before serving or storing in an airtight container.
