Homemade BBQ Sauce

Ingredients :

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for depth)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • A dash of hot sauce (optional, for heat)

Instructions :

  1. Combine ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
  2. Add seasonings: Stir in the smoked paprika (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. If you like a bit of heat, add a few dashes of hot sauce to taste.
  3. Simmer: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cooks.
  4. Taste and adjust: Taste your sauce and adjust seasoning if needed—more vinegar for tang, more sugar or honey for sweetness, or more spice for kick.
  5. Cool and store: Remove from heat and let the sauce cool. Transfer to a clean glass jar or airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Serving ideas: Brush it on ribs, chicken, burgers, or use it as a dipping sauce for fries and nuggets—it’s incredibly versatile!
