Ingredients

2 cups self-rising flour

1 cup milk

½ cup vegetable oil

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp butter (for greasing & brushing)
Instructions :
1. Prep the Oven
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Mix the Batter
In a large bowl, stir together:

Self-rising flour
-
Milk
-
Vegetable oil
-
Salt
Mix gently using a wooden spoon. Don’t overmix.
3. Prepare the Skillet

Grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet generously with butter or bacon grease.

Pour the batter into the skillet.

Use a pastry brush to lightly brush melted butter over the top.
4. Bake

Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until golden and set.

If the top isn’t browned, switch the oven to broil for 1–2 minutes to toast the top.
5. Cool & Serve

Let it cool in the skillet for 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Best served warm with butter, honey, or alongside soups and stews.
