Ingredients:
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 22–28 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set but still soft.
- Cool completely before slicing into bars for clean cuts, or slice warm for an extra-gooey texture.
