Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 cups + 1 cup separated)
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- For topping: Warm fudge or chocolate sauce
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven and prepare the pan:
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) springform pan or pie dish.
2. Melt the chocolate and butter:
In a heatproof bowl, melt 2 cups of chocolate chips and the butter together using a double boiler or microwave (at 50% power in 30-second intervals). Stir until smooth and let it cool slightly.
3. Prepare the egg mixture:
Using an electric mixer, beat the eggs, sugar, and vanilla on medium-high speed for about 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
4. Add the chocolate:
Pour the cooled chocolate-butter mixture into the egg mixture and stir until combined.
5. Add the dry ingredients:
Sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix just until combined. Gently fold in the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips with a spatula.
6. Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes. The center should be puffed and the top cracked, but the inside should remain slightly gooey.
7. Cool and serve:
Allow the brownie pie to cool completely in the pan. Drizzle with warm fudge or chocolate sauce before serving.
Perfect for serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
