Gingerbread Crinkle Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for coating)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
  3. Add egg, molasses, and vanilla; mix until combined.
  4. Add dry ingredients to wet and mix just until a dough forms.
  5. Cover and chill for 2 hours (this creates the crinkles).
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line baking sheets with parchment.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough, roll into balls, and coat generously in powdered sugar.
  8. Place 2 inches apart and bake 10–12 minutes, until cracked on top and set at the edges.
  9. Cool 5 minutes on the pan, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
