Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cloves
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and molasses until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are slightly crisp and the centers are soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
