Ingredients:
- 5 slices of bacon, chopped
- ½ cup yellow onion, chopped
- 3 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 10–12 shrimp, peeled, deveined, tails off
- 1 link kielbasa or smoked sausage, cut into ½-inch slices
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp seafood seasoning (like Old Bay or Cajun blend)
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
Instructions:
- Cook the Bacon:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook chopped bacon until crispy.
- Remove bacon and set aside, leaving the rendered fat in the skillet.
- Sauté the Onion & Sausage:
- Add chopped onions and sliced sausage to the skillet.
- Sauté until the onions are soft and sausage is browned, about 4–5 minutes.
- Add the Cabbage:
- Stir in the shredded cabbage.
- Add 1 tablespoon olive oil if the pan is too dry.
- Season with seafood seasoning and smoked paprika.
- Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring often, until the cabbage softens and starts to brown.
- Cook the Shrimp:
- Add shrimp to the skillet.
- Stir everything together and cook for 2–3 minutes until shrimp turn pink and are cooked through.
- Finish & Serve:
- Add the crispy bacon back to the skillet and give it one final stir.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed (add a dash of hot sauce for a kick ).
Serving Tip:
Delicious on its own, or served over rice, grits, or mashed potatoes!
