Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt (plus extra for sprinkling)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3–5 minutes). Mix in vanilla.
- Gradually add flour and mix just until combined.
- Shape dough into a 2-inch log, wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.
- Slice into 1/4-inch rounds and place on the baking sheet. Sprinkle lightly with flaky sea salt.
- Bake 12–15 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers remain pale.
- Cool 5 minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
