Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)
Salt and pepper to taste - 4 slices of Gruyère or Swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 clove garlic, minced (optional for garlic butter buns)

Directions:

1. Caramelize Onions:

Melt butter in skillet over med-low.

Thinly slice onions with mandoline. Cook with sugar 20-25 mins until golden.

Deglaze with broth and Worcestershire; stir in thyme.
2. Form & Cook Burgers:

Mix ground beef with salt, pepper, 1 tbsp Worcestershire. Press into patties.

Sear in skillet 4-5 mins/side (135°F for medium).
3. Toast Buns:

Mix garlic + 2 tbsp butter. Brush on brioche buns; toast until golden.
4. Assemble & Broil:

- Place patties on baking tray. Top with onions + Gruyère.
- Broil 2 mins until cheese bubbles.
- Sprinkle thyme; sandwich in buns.
