Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 2–3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish. Spread half of the meat mixture over the potatoes.
- Pour half of the soup mixture on top and sprinkle with some shredded cheese.
- Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, meat, soup mixture, and cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
