Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
- 1 (10.5 oz) can French onion soup
- 1 (10.5 oz) can beef consommé
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, sliced into pats
- 2 tbsp chopped chives (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until no longer pink (8–10 minutes). Drain excess fat.
- Spread cooked beef evenly in the baking dish. Sprinkle uncooked rice over the top.
- Pour French onion soup and beef consommé over the mixture. Stir gently to distribute evenly.
- Dot the top with butter pats.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake another 30 minutes, until rice is tender and top is golden.
- Let rest 5–10 minutes. Garnish with chives if desired and serve.
