Crunchy Sweet Candy

 

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup sliced almonds
  • ½ cup salted peanuts
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup salted butter
  • ⅓ cup water
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter completely.
  3. Add water, sugar, and corn syrup. Stir until the sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes.
  4. Insert a candy thermometer and continue cooking, stirring often, until the mixture reaches 300°F (about 15 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the baking soda.
  6. Immediately add the almonds and peanuts, stirring to coat evenly.
  7. Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread as thin as possible.
  8. Let cool for 30 minutes, then break into chunks.
