creamy homemade alfredo sauce

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened and cubed
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions : 

  1. melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  2. add the cream cheese and stir until it melts and combines smoothly with the butter. keep stirring until the mixture is smooth.
  3. pour in the heavy whipping cream gradually, stirring continuously. cook for 3 to 4 minutes to let it heat through and begin to thicken.
  4. stir in the parmesan and mozzarella cheeses until completely melted and the sauce is creamy. if the sauce is too thick, you can add a little more cream or milk to thin it out.
  5. season with salt and black pepper to taste. remove from heat.
  6. serve hot over cooked pasta, grilled chicken, or steamed vegetables. garnish with chopped parsley if you like.
