Classic Chocolate Birthday Cake

Ingredients:

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Frosting Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • ⅓ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round pan.
  2. In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk until smooth.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, then cool completely.
  7. Beat frosting ingredients until light and creamy.
