Christmas Tree Shortbread Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • Green icing or royal icing (for decorating)
  • Assorted Christmas sprinkles
  • Star sprinkles or small candy stars

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and powdered sugar until light and smooth. Mix in vanilla and salt.
  3. Gradually add flour and mix just until a soft dough forms.
  4. Roll dough out to about ¼-inch thickness. Cut into long rectangles.
  5. Place cookies on prepared baking sheets and bake 10–12 minutes, just until set and lightly golden on the edges. Cool completely.
  6. Pipe green icing in a zigzag pattern to form Christmas trees. Decorate with sprinkles and add a star on top. Allow icing to set before serving.
