Christmas Shortbread Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Maraschino cherries (halved), for topping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar until creamy and smooth.
  3. Stir in the cornstarch and flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on the baking sheet.
  5. Gently press a cherry half into the center of each cookie.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just lightly golden.
  7. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • For extra melt-in-your-mouth texture, avoid overbaking.
  • Dough may be chilled for 10–15 minutes if too soft to shape.
