Christmas Crack

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers (about 40–45 crackers)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup red and green M&M’s or holiday sprinkles (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and lightly grease.
  2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer, covering the entire baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Bring to a rolling boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the crackers.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes, or until bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the top. Let sit for 2–3 minutes until melted, then spread smoothly with a spatula.
  7. Sprinkle with M&M’s or holiday sprinkles, gently pressing them into the melted chocolate.
  8. Allow to cool completely, then break into pieces and serve.
