Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 package (2 sheets) puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the cookie dough:
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until smooth. Gradually add the dry ingredients, then fold in the chocolate chips.
2. Prepare the pastry:
Roll out each puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Spread an even layer of cookie dough over one sheet, then top with the second sheet.
3. Cut and twist:
Cut the stacked pastry into strips about 1 inch wide. Twist each strip gently and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with egg wash if desired for a golden finish.
4. Bake:
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
5. Serve:
Let cool slightly and enjoy warm! Perfect with a cold glass of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
