Ingredients:
- 1 stick butter or margarine (½ cup / 115 g)
- 1 cup (240 ml) milk
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 can (15 oz / 425 g) peaches in syrup, with juice
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Place butter in a 9×13 inch (or similar) baking dish and set it in the oven to melt.
- In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk until smooth.
- Pour batter over the melted butter in the baking dish—do not stir.
- Evenly spoon the peaches and their syrup over the batter. Do not mix. The batter will rise during baking, creating a golden crust around the fruit.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and slightly crisp.
- Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
