Bourbon BBQ Meatball Subs

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef, 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheese blend)
  • 1 cup bourbon BBQ sauce
  • 4 sub rolls (toasted)
  • Crispy bacon bits (optional, for garnish)

Directions:

1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.

2. Roll mixture into meatballs (about golf-ball size).

3. Heat a skillet or ovenproof pan over medium-high heat. Cook meatballs until browned on all sides and cooked through (about 12–15 minutes).

4. Warm the bourbon BBQ sauce in a saucepan, then toss meatballs in the sauce until coated.

5. Place meatballs inside toasted sub rolls. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and allow it to melt slightly.

6. Drizzle with extra BBQ sauce and top with crispy bacon bits if desired.

7. Serve hot and enjoy these smoky, cheesy, saucy subs!
