WHITE BEAN AND HAM HOCK SOUP

Bean Soup is an easy and inexpensive dish and one of our all-time favorite foods to come home to on a chilly day.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb dried navy beans (organic)

  • smoked ham hock (premium)

  • 1 large sweet onion, chopped

  • organic carrots, peeled/chopped

  • celery stalks, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 6 cups bone broth (chicken/vegetable)

  • bay leaf

  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley (garnish)

Instructions :

  1. Soak Beans:
    Rinse navy beans → soak overnight in glass bowl. Drain.

  2. Sauté Base:
    In Dutch oven, sauté onioncarrotscelery 5 mins. Add garlic → cook 1 min.

  3. Simmer Magic:
    Add ham hock, beans, brothbay leafthyme.
    Simmer covered 2-2.5 hrs in soup pot until tender.

  4. Finish:
    Remove hock → shred meat → return to pot. Discard bay leaf.

  5. Serve:
    Garnish with parsley → pair with crusty bread.
