Ingredients :
-
1 jar dried beef slices, rinsed well & chopped
 -
4 tbsp butter
 -
4 tbsp all-purpose flour
 -
Pinch of cayenne pepper
 -
2 cups milk
 -
Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
 -
Toasted bread, for serving

Instructions :
-
Prep the Beef
Rinse the dried beef slices thoroughly under cold water to reduce the saltiness. Pat dry using paper towels, then chop into small, bite-sized pieces. -
Make the Roux
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the flour and a pinch of cayenne pepper, then whisk using a balloon whisk for about 45 seconds until smooth and lightly cooked. -
Add the Milk
Slowly pour in the milk while continuously whisking to avoid lumps. Stir until smooth and combined. -
Add the Beef
Stir in the chopped dried beef and let the mixture simmer for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened. -
Season & Serve
Taste and adjust seasoning with sea salt and cracked black pepper, if needed.
Spoon generously over slices of dry toasted bread and serve immediately.
