Ingredients:
Cake Batter
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar

Frosting
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon cotton candy flavoring
- Food coloring (pink and blue)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Oven
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add Eggs and Flavor
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in cotton candy flavoring.
5. Combine
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until smooth.
6. Color the Batter
Divide the batter into two bowls. Tint one pink and the other blue.
7. Bake
Pour batters into prepared pans and gently swirl for a marbled effect if desired.
Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
8. Cool
Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
9. Make Frosting
Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then milk and flavoring. Beat until smooth and fluffy.
Divide and color frosting as desired.
10. Assemble
Frost between layers and cover the cake. Decorate with swirls of pink and blue frosting for a cotton candy look.
