No-Oven Stovetop Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3–1/2 cup milk or water (as needed)
  • 1 tablespoon oil or melted butter

Instructions:

  1. Make the dough: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add oil/butter and milk (or water) gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead briefly: Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
  3. Rest: Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Shape: Divide into 2–3 pieces. Roll each into a small circle about 1/4-inch thick.
  5. Cook: Heat a nonstick or lightly oiled skillet over medium-low heat. Cook each bread 2–3 minutes per side, until golden spots appear and the bread puffs slightly.
  6. Serve: Remove from heat and keep covered with a clean towel to stay warm.
