Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices sandwich bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (low-moisture recommended)
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Place four slices of bread butter-side down on a clean surface.
  3. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on each slice, if using.
  4. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the bread.
  5. Add pepperoni and, if desired, Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  8. Cook sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  9. Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve warm.

Tips and Variations

  • Use a mix of mozzarella and provolone or cheddar for extra flavor.
  • Add olives, bell peppers, or mushrooms for a vegetable version.
  • Serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
